HUD delivers the Government's programme to address homelessness, increase public and private housing supply, make existing homes warmer and healthier, make housing affordable for people to rent and buy, and lead quality urban development strategies to create thriving communities. About the role | Mō te tūnga We are looking for a Financial Advisor to join the Community Housing Regulatory Authority (CHRA) within HUD on a fixed term basis until 24 December 2026. You’ll be working in a fun and diverse team who are committed to ensuring tenants are appropriately housed, and supporting the growth of an efficient, effective and transparent sector. You will provide high quality financial reporting and analysis to support CHRA in the assessment of applications for registration and the ongoing monitoring of registered Community Housing Provider’s (CHPs). The Financial Advisor is responsible for: Analysis of financial data and regulatory reporting (predominantly audited financial statements and budget forecasts) to assist the CHRA team in the evaluation of applications for registration, and annual monitoring of registered CHPs Engagement with CHPs and other stakeholders (e.g. insurers, lenders, development partners) to provide information on our role, and the registration and ongoing monitoring requirements for CHPs. Reporting on the financial strength of the registered CHP sector, and sector trends Ad-hoc analysis and reporting to assist Regulatory Advisors and teams across the Ministry respond to breaches of the Performance Standards by individual registered CHPs. Developing new financial assessment and reporting policies and procedures, as required, to support an evolving regulatory system. The types of experience you'll bring to the role: Sound understanding of key accounting principles and business risk indicators Experience in developing and providing reporting using data analytics An ability to understand applicants’ and registered CHPs’ businesses ‘in the round’ through an assessment of key financial documents High level of attention to detail Solutions driven approach Excellent communication skills Capable of mentoring junior members of the team as needed Be a strong team player with the ability to coordinate and collaborate at team level Resilience to working in a continuously evolving environment and role Known for your integrity and taking responsibility for your actions Experience with stakeholder engagement.
