Description Houston Career Institute is seeking to fill the position of Financial Aid Officer. Position Summary: The Financial Aid Officer (FAO) provides applicants with assistance in completing Financial Aid (FA) applications and determines eligibility. The FAO packages students, prepares FA files, and follows regulations in disbursement of FA. Processes status changes. Promotes default management and helps students understand repayment responsibilities. Performs the initial 20-minute estimate process for all prospective students. Access NSLDS to review prior loan/grant information. Review FAFSA process with student – answer all questions that arise while the student is completing the FAFSA via “FAFSA on the Web” (http://www.studentaid.gov). Provide the student with copies of all paperwork completed. Schedule all financial aid awards and cash payments for first year student. Provide counseling to students to ensure an understanding of financial aid basics. Manages confidential information. Attend Orientation/Registration sessions for new students.
