Job Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for contributing to the preparation of all Financial Statements of the Company, carrying out analysis of variances, contributing to the Company’s budget and forecast preparations and ensuring adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). In addition, responsibilities include preparing and verifying journal entry adjustments and accruals, preparing required reports for month-end, quarter-end reviews, year-end audit and budget presentations, performing ad hoc accounting analysis.

Key Accountabilities:
- Carry out financial analysis, verification, processing and posting of journal entries to the G / L including adjustments, accruals, eliminations, reversals and recurring entries; perform balance sheet and income statement account analysis; prepare required reports for month-end, quarter-end reviews and year-end audit.
- Analyze, review / verify, monitor / track intercompany transactions including extracting departmental data from budgeting system.
- Prepare reconciliations schedules for various G / L accounts.
- Prepare / participate in the consolidation of variance analysis to support departmental input for EMC and Board of Directors financial reports.
- Monitor new or revised Departmental or Company programs and initiatives to determine impacts on corporate financial budgeting and reporting policies, procedures, tools and systems.
- Prepare monthly consolidated statement of cash flows by consolidating inputs from treasury, capital asset group, departmental reconciliations and Payroll accounting.
- Provide advice support to departments and other groups on budgeting or reporting related inquiries.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports with variances and recommendations for corrective action to support corporate reporting and input to departmental performance reports and annual submissions of budget reporting and respond to departmental requests for information, etc.
- Provide consolidation and synthesis of departmental budgets to contribute to the development of NAV CANADA budgets, financial plans and budget presentation for the EMC and Board of Directors.
- Input and maintain corporate reporting budgets in the budgeting software.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Graduation with a bachelor’s degree or diploma from a recognized university or college and acceptable specialization in commerce, business administration, economics or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant knowledge and experience in financial accounting and analysis.
- Must have experience in financial analysis and manipulating large volumes of data. This would include strong computer skills, particularly with Excel, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise form.
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (IFRS) and Canadian Securities Administrators disclosure requirements.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Good knowledge of computer-based accounting and office management systems and applications.
Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks in a changing environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimum direction and supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple requests and conflicting deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and a detailed and methodical approach to work plans and execution.
- Ability to review material for accuracy and completeness and take appropriate action.

- Investigative mindset with a desire to filter through high volumes of data to arrive at a solution.

Working conditions:
- This position is based at the Ottawa Head Office but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
