JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

To work closely with the Corporate Controller in providing support to the business unit in all matters relating to job cost control, financial reporting, internal controls and taxation issues.
To provide timely, relevant and useful information and analysis to assist with project management of the operating companies (BHC, BCM & HJOED).
Reports to the Corporate Controller who will be the Corporate Financial Analyst’s primary “internal customer”.

Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting:

  • Monthly analysis and reconciliation of GL accounts, bank reconciliations, journal entries, inter-company reconciliation, accruals and other month end closing tasks;
  • Support and oversee fixed assets, accounts receivable and payable, purchasing and staff payroll tasks and ensure company procedures and processes are followed;
  • Cash flow budgeting and management;
  • Government reporting – sales taxes, DAS, etc.;
  • Assist with the quarterly consolidated financial statements preparation and analysis;
  • Prepare quarterly information for inclusion in parent company public reporting;
  • Year-end audit file preparation;
  • Support Controller with special projects

Project/ Equipment Division/Construction Contract Accounting:

  • Analysis and review of equipment division and construction project’s P & L reports, project billings, A/R collections and cash flow analysis

Candidate should also have the following:

  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • 3 years of experience;
  • Accounting Designation – CA, CGA, CMA or equivalent is desirable;
  • Strong excel skills and good overall computer knowledge;
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented;
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Ability to supervise accounting staff;
  • Previous experience in construction company accounting or related field
