About the Position: Reporting to the Accounting Coordinator, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties to support the financial operations of the company. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and attention to detail. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the Accounting Coordinator to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. Responsibilities: Prepare and record journal entries and maintain the general ledger. Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations. Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Analyze financial data and provide explanations for variances. Prepare ad-hoc schedules and gather information as requested. Complete regulatory and governmental reporting requirements including GST returns and Charity Returns. Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Assist with audits (internal and external). Process and record fixed asset transactions and reconciliation of accounts. Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. Collaborate with other departments. Qualifications: A degree or diploma in a related field and two years' experience in a relevant position. Professional accounting designation - Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) completed or in progress is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets including pivot tables, lookup formulas, and data analysis functions. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Open and responsive to feedback and professional development. Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Cultural competence and the ability to conduct oneself in a manner that is respectful and encouraging of the cultural/spiritual beliefs and practices of others. A Police Information Check and an Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire. Experience working within a non-profit setting, experience with Adagio is considered an asset.
