Overview This position is responsible for overseeing the planning, financial measurement, and reporting, as well as coordinating business and administrative activities for the Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center. This position includes responsibilities such as financial analysis, ensuring compliance with policies, managing administrative operations to support the center's research and institutional goals. In addition, the successful applicant will work closely with the Director in center budgeting and strategic planning. Responsibilities Implement appropriate accounting procedures and reporting designed to identify and track both revenue and expenses associated with the Cancer Research Center’s internal accounts, grants and industry sponsored projects. Provide administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the Cancer Research Center. Responsible for time and effort oversight, review and submission of Labor Distribution and ePAS forms. Responsible for the coordination of the Center’s Materials Management/Procurement functions through ODU and ODURF procurement processes. Serve as the Fixed Asset Coordinator (FAC) responsible for preparing fixed asset forms, initiating workflows, and maintaining departmental fixed asset records. Interact with ODURF Grants Accounting, Office of Sponsored Programs, and Investigators to support grant submissions. This includes assistance with budget planning. Work with Cancer Center Investigators to maintain institutional compliance for research activities including IRB protocols. Overseeing essential shared equipment maintenance contracts and contract performance. Coordinating with appropriate center researchers for equipment repairs and annual inspections, managing associated costs, and financial support. Qualifications Education and experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting plus three years of relevant experience. Ability to read and implement general business policies, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form the Center Director, faculty, staff, students and Office of Business Administration. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference and trend analysis. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Computer experience in spreadsheets and word processing preferred.
