Description We are seeking a Financial Analyst – Commercial Performance to play a critical role in understanding, analyzing, and improving the company's margin performance. This position partners cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Resource Planning, Quality, Risk Management, and Business Intelligence to deliver actionable insights into volume and margin performance at a granular level. This is a highly visible role that regularly reports findings, root causes, and improvement opportunities to the leadership team. Key Responsibilities Review all new sales quotes to ensure accuracy of costs and margin assumptions Analyze daily sales and margin reporting, with deep dives into underperforming parts Perform root cause analysis on persistent margin variances by part and customer Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Quality, Risk, and Planning to develop margin improvement plans Become a subject matter expert in BI and ERP tools to support margin analysis across the organization Prepare and present weekly margin performance reports to leadership, including issues, root causes, and action plans Analyze the impact of commodity price fluctuations and customer pricing programs on margin performance Support the Director of Risk Management with back-office hedging activities, including trade logging, reconciliations, and data support for reporting Partner with the BI team to recommend and develop new reporting tools to support margin and inventory management Business Impact & Metrics This role directly contributes to protecting and improving company profitability through: Quote margin vs. realized margin analysis Margin variance monitoring versus targets Identification and recovery of margin leakage Margin improvement on targeted parts and customers Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field 3–5 years of experience in pricing, procurement, or finance within a manufacturing or commodities-based environment Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau ERP system experience (INVEX experience is a plus) Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Ability to balance detailed analysis with high-level margin strategy Company Information: Heidtman Steel is a leading service center network with over 70 years of excellence in steel processing and customer-focused solutions.
