Description

Responsible for the evaluation and analysis of the financial condition of Palomar Health programs and facilities. Develops financial feasibility studies of proposed new programs and evaluations of existing programs, supports the strategic planning process and assists in the development and monitoring of multi-year financial plans and service lines. Prepares capital and operating budgets for Palomar Health acute and skilled nursing facilities and tracks progress in achieving the organization’s financial goals and objectives, specifically with regard to long range financial plans and annual operating budgets. Determine the cost of providing specific health care services across a broad range of the system’s various acute and skilled nursing services and service lines, and must often recommend changes to operating procedures and processes to achieve the least costly alternative. Monitor labor productivity and labor costs for a broad spectrum of departments within Palomar Health acute and skilled facilities and will use benchmark data to evaluate the performance of current operations. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and is capable of a high degree of independence in the performance of a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and mentor others within the financial planning department or health system. Serves as a resource for Palomar Health managers, directors and executives on the financial performance of Palomar Health operating units. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, due to the extensive interaction with department directors and executives that is required. Finally, a thorough knowledge of widely used PC software is necessary. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

3 Years Acute Health Care financial management

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

5 Years Acute Health Care financial management
