The Department of Advanced Education and Training is seeking a Finance Analyst to join the Finance and Administration Branch. Through high quality and affordable education opportunities, our department makes sure Manitobans are ready for good jobs and have skills to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. We do this by providing funding and direction to post-secondary institutions and adult literacy and learning centres. We also help students get the financial support they need to pay for tuition and living expenses while they are studying.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or a related field. Other equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.
  • Relevant experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Experience interpreting financial and administration policies procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to manage large amounts of financial data using spreadsheet functions and tools.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar computerized systems.
  • Experience reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a variety of written documents.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with different stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Duties:
The Financial Analyst (FI1) plays a critical role in supporting Manitoba Student Aid by managing a range of daily and monthly financial processes. This position is essential to ensuring the timely disbursement of provincial loans and the Manitoba Bursary Fund to students, as well as the accurate daily reconciliation of bank accounts in accordance with government policies and financial controls.
