Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst plays a crucial and integral role, who is involved in the complete range of accounting tasks within the Finance team. This includes, but is not limited to, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, generating various reports, conducting analytical reviews, mentoring junior staff, supporting financial initiatives, and handling ad hoc assignments.
As a Financial Analyst, you are responsible for ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards. You play a vital role in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and analyzing financial data to support informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
· Review statements and investigate outstanding items
· Prepare monthly broker statement of accounts
· Provide requested invoices or statements to our broker partners, as needed
· Prepare the bordereaux report monthly for various insurers
· Perform full cycle accounting duties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
· Research, identify, and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics
· Recommend and implement actions to improve operational efficiencies and to maintain a high level of financial integrity
· Improve upon existing reports and implement new reporting as requested
· Support ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required
Skills and Qualifications:
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and a thorough understanding of financial statements and how they relate to business operations
· Communication Skills: Ability to create clear, concise, and well-structured reports that summarize findings; communicating complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders in an understandable manner; and fostering relationships with external stakeholders, team members, and senior management
· Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: Identifying potential problems and proposing solutions. Using financial data to make informed, strategic decisions. Excellent at thinking creatively, questioning established norms, and navigating ambiguity
