HOW YOU’LL ADVANCE OUR MISSION | POSITION OVERVIEW The Financial Analyst, Reporting & Analytics supports the financial stewardship of the Foundation by producing accurate, timely, and insightful financial reports and analyses. This role partners closely with Finance, Programs, Development, and Leadership to ensure transparency, compliance, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, advanced financial reporting skills, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights. YOUR UNIQUE IMPACT | ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, Board, and external stakeholders Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and key performance indicators, with a focus on fund, program, and grant-level reporting Develop dashboards and ad hoc analyses to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB ASC 958) Fund, Grant & Program Accounting Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds, endowments, grants, and donor-designated contributions Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with donor, grantor, and regulatory requirements Partner with Program and Development teams to provide accurate financial information related to program performance and funding utilization Assist with allocation methodologies for shared costs across programs and funds Budgeting & Forecasting Support annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning processes Maintain forecasts and scenario analyses reflecting funding changes, program growth, and operational needs Provide budget-to-actual reporting and recommendations for corrective actions as needed Systems, Data & Process Improvement Maintain and enhance financial reporting tools, templates, and dashboards Ensure data integrity across financial and donor systems Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, and data visualization Document financial reporting processes and support system implementations or upgrades Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred 3–5+ years of financial analysis, reporting, or accounting experience Prior experience in a nonprofit, foundation, or fund-accounting environment strongly preferred Demonstrated experience with restricted funds, grants, and program-level reporting Technical Skills & Systems Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, lookups, financial modeling) Experience with nonprofit or fund accounting systems, such as - Sage Intacct - Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT - NetSuite (Nonprofit edition) - QuickBooks Nonprofit Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, or similar) Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent Working knowledge of donor and grant management systems (e.g., Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce NPSP) a plus Understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards (ASC 958), and internal controls Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to synthesize complex financial information and communicate it clearly to non-financial stakeholders High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Collaborative, service-oriented mindset with a commitment to the Foundation’s mission
Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst produces accurate, timely, and insightful financial reports and analyses to support the Foundation's financial stewardship, partnering with various departments to ensure transparency and data-driven decisions.
