JOB OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of the designated companies in the SM2 group. The Financial Analyst will create value by presenting the financial status of the companies assigned in a timely manner and finding opportunities for improvement. To be successful, the Financial Analyst should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, be a critical thinker and a savvy user of Excel and Word as well a fast learner of accounting and other Softwares.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Accounting or Finance-related degree
· CPA Designation or close to completion
· Experience in Xero Accounting software is an asset
· 5+ years of solid experience in financial reporting

· Book journal entries for month end close
· Handle different modules as required, including but not limited to:
o Intercompany
o Treasury
o Fixed Assets
o Fleet Management
· Analyze, reconcile, and investigate key accounts
· Prepare monthly financial statements of assigned companies as per ASPE
· Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process
· Assist in the yearly audit/review engagements
· Prepare and file monthly GST returns
· Liaise with CRA and Auditors when required
· Train and supervise junior accountants
· Assist the Controller and Accounting Team in ad-hoc projects as required
