WORK TYPE: Fulltime, Exempt LOCATION: Hybrid - Memphis, Tennessee TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Travel is minimal, any travel would be primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected for meetings. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: The Financial Analyst is an important member of our Varsity Event Finance team by advising senior regional management on key financial decisions, overseeing a region’s financial health by analyzing data, assisting with the creation of financial reports, managing event budgets and forecasts. WHAT YOU WILL DO Partner with regional management to advise on financial decisions to ensure financial success of regional events. Develop and manage event budgets, forecast future financial performance in season. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders. Identify areas for cost reduction, implement cost-saving measures, and monitor expenses against budgets. Ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions. Effectively communicate financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ensure adherence to accounting standards and financial regulations. Assist with the building of pricing models that ensure the business is maintaining healthy margins season after season. QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suites Working knowledge of finance and accounting processes and principles; Knowledge of GAAP Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new systems and processes quickly Proficiency in financial modeling techniques is a plus. Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others Project management skills and ability to multi- task and manage competing priorities Strong analytical and data gathering skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; or 3 years of direct experience in accounting or finance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
