Description
The Financial Analyst is the strategic architect of a company’s future. This position will oversee strategic projects that advance business objectives by collaborating with internal teams and external partners. This role requires planning, execution, and delivering measurable outcomes while ensuring projects remain on schedule, within scope, and on budget. They are responsible for the end-to-end cycle of budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting. They serve as a critical link between the Finance & Accounting department's raw numbers and the executive team's strategic goals. Their work focuses on "the why" behind financial results and "the what next" for the company’s growth. Essential Job Functions Financial Modeling: Develops and manages sophisticated models - P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Cash Forecast, and other financial reporting, such as KPIs, FX, and debt schedules. Simulate "what-if" scenarios, and covenant compliance review. Short and long-term forecasting, utilizing statistical data-driven techniques and internal inputs. Variance Analysis: Perform variance analysis, validate models, and ensure accuracy. Investigates variances and discrepancies, and provides actionable recommendations to department heads to course-correct. Strategic Business Partnering: Acts as a dedicated partner within corporate finance and non-finance teams (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Logistics, Operations) on various initiatives and streamlining operations. Reporting cash flow cycle, and working capital management initiatives. Management Reporting: Prepares monthly "Executive Dashboards", schedules, and quarterly board decks, translating complex financial data into high-level insights for the C-suite. Process Automation: Identifies opportunities to streamline data collection and reporting by leveraging modern tools like Power BI, Tableau, or AI-driven forecasting software. Contributes to the implementation of risk management and internal control processes. Conduct ad hoc analysis supporting strategic planning and workstream analysis, as needed. Project Management: Assess, develop, and lead projects with internal and external partners to support continuous improvement initiatives and business continuity planning as technology, software, and markets evolve. Define objectives, create project plans including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Experience/ Training/ Education Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics. CPA, CFA, or FPAC is highly preferred. 2 to 4 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or accounting. Mastery of Excel (advanced formulas, Power Query), PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, and proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, NetSuite). Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Accounting Principles: A deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and how the three financial statements—P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. Corporate Finance: Knowledge of capital structures, the time value of money, and various valuation methodologies. Business Operations: An understanding of how specific industries operate—whether focusing on recurring revenue models or the intricacies of the cost of goods sold (COGS). Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with tax laws, industry-specific regulations, and internal audit controls. Advanced Modeling: The ability to build dynamic, "audit-ready" financial models that can accommodate multiple scenarios and sensitivity analyses. Data Analytics & Visualization: Proficiency in tools such as Excel (including Power Query and VBA), SQL for data extraction, and Power BI or Tableau for creating executive dashboards. Forecasting & Budgeting: Mastery of the mechanics of variance analysis to identify the root causes of why actual results deviated from the plan. Strategic Storytelling: The "soft skill" of translating complex spreadsheets into a narrative that non-financial managers can use to make informed decisions. Analytical Reasoning: Strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into actionable project plans. The capacity to break down complex problems into manageable components and identify trends within "noisy" data. Adaptability: The ability to pivot forecasts quickly when market conditions or company priorities shift overnight. Ethical Integrity: As analysts handle sensitive and confidential data, they must maintain the highest standards of honesty and objectivity. Working Conditions Works in offices close to those of top management. Generally, work forty hours per week; however, some work shifts or extended work hours during busy periods. Working under pressure is unavoidable when schedules change and problems arise, but deadlines and goals must still be met.
