The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves constructing and operating a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.

Position
The Financial Analyst is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s dynamic team. The Financial Analyst will lead and oversee the invoices and payments processing, Finance and Accounting document controlling, Accounts Payable reporting, and management reports supporting. The Financial Analyst focuses on maintaining efficient AP operations, assisting in process improvements, and providing analysis to support decision making. The successful candidate reports directly to Financial Controller and will play an essential part in supporting the company’s Finance, Accounting, and Tax team through duration of the project as well as operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Process vendor invoices and payments accurately, timely and compliant with company policies and internal controls policies.
- Receive, review, verify invoices, and ensure proper approval and coding of expenses.
- Monitor aging reports to ensure payments are processed within agreed timelines and support cash forecasts.
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve invoice and payment issues promptly.
- Maintain the AP ledger by performing reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring data integrity.
- Prepare AP-related reports accruals and assist in month-end and year-end closing.
- Support audits by providing documentation.
- Analyze spending trends to identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend process improvements or automation, and participate in continual process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in GST and other statutory reporting.
- Assist in the Budget preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual management reports and analysis including variance analysis.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable or a related finance role.
- Strong communications and good stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with SAP financial systems and reporting tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance in accounts payable is an asset.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, especially A/P, accruals, and general ledger.
- Good time management and ability to handle high volumes.
- Problem-solving and reconciliation skills, and professional communication skills.
- Knowledge of tax codes, especially sales tax (GST/HST/PST).
- Experience working with multi-currency vendors or international payments.
- Work experience with project accounting and Cost Center.
