ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years’ of recent and related financial and payroll experience, preferably in a university environment.
  • Experience processing and reconciling financial, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll records.
  • Experience preparing standard financial reports and maintaining financial files.
  • Experience processing expense reimbursements.
  • Experience maintaining databases and producing reports.
  • Experience monitoring and reconciling budget and research grants.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office suite of products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat.
  • Advanced working knowledge with HRIS and FIS or other related financial and payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of databases and producing reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational skills and planning ability, ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Applying the generally accepted accounting principles to financial tasks
  • Processing expense reimbursements
  • Verifying that supporting documentation is attached to financial records before processing in FIS
  • Acting as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries
  • Handling sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of information
  • Identifyingand resolving individual financial discrepancies
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
