About the Role Join the Bureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services (CGFS) at the Department of State (DoS) in Charleston, SC, and support the Office of Accounting Operations. This office delivers accounting and reporting services to both domestic and overseas operations within the Central Allotment Accounting section. As a Financial Business Process Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing, reconciling, and analyzing internal and external reports for portfolios that support several programs for the Bureau of Consular Affairs, ensuring full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various offices and bureaus to meet annual reporting requirements. Interested in Applying? Important note to consider: A Secret Clearance will open a lot of other doors for your career in the Government to include possibilities of being hired directly.    You Must Meet these Minimum Requirements To thrive in this role, you must bring: * Proven professional experience with management or technical leadership responsibilities. * Demonstrated expertise in leading tasks, applying technical knowledge, and communicating effectively at all levels. * Senior-level, specialized experience with large financial management/accounting systems of similar size, scope, and complexity to Department of State (DoS) systems. * Subject matter knowledge of federal accounting and financial management policies, practices, reporting, and operations. * Strong ability to analyze complex financial system requirements, identify issues, and develop cost-effective solutions that can be clearly communicated and successfully implemented. * Experience serving as a technical leader in reports and reconciliation, financial systems analysis, help desk operations, and other functions requiring in-depth financial systems knowledge. * Ability to analyze business processes, information flows, and system relationships to drive efficiencies. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel. We are also looking for candidates who bring additional strengths, such as: * A four-year degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degree, CPA, or CGFM highly desirable). * Direct experience with federal accounting systems, especially Department of State systems. * Familiarity with Momentum systems and Business Intelligence tools. * Exceptional organizational, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of management and staff. * Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision, work well in teams, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. * A track record of producing high-quality, accurate deliverables on time. * Self-motivation and initiative to contribute meaningfully with little direction. * Our most Successful Employees in this Position Demonstrate * Digitally fluent: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (intermediate to advanced). * Quick learners: Able to adapt to new financial software and apply knowledge effectively. * Problem-solvers: Skilled at spotting trends in financial rejections and recommending corrective measures. * Proactive learners: Eager to gain new skills and improve processes. * Dependable contributors: Motivated to work independently while supporting the larger mission. * Process-minded: Able to follow Standard Operating Procedures while providing valuable feedback for improvements. * Mission-focused: Understand how daily tasks contribute to the Department’s overall success.   Day-to-day Job Responsibilities include:  * Strengthen financial integrity by reconciling general ledger accounts with Treasury, identifying transaction errors, and recommending corrective actions. * Resolve production system issues, assess impacts of proposed changes, document requirements, and support implementation of new or modified systems. * Improve workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency. * Provide excellent customer service to Bureaus and supported organizations. * Analyze and verify accounting transactions, correcting errors and ensuring compliance. * Process authority transfers, adjustments, and appropriation changes. * Monitor allotment balances to prevent Anti-Deficiency Act (ADA) violations. * Reconcile general ledgers and prepare financial statements. * Manage, maintain, and secure accounting records. * Recommend, develop, and implement cost-effective solutions that align with Department needs * Improving workflows and procedures to enhance efficiencies. * Support and uphold ISO 9001 objectives.
