KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Accountable for all transactional, accounting & reporting of current/historic activity across Centrica Power Assets including all month end and post-month end accounting activities.
  • Ensuring the integrity of financial reporting for the legal entities by maintaining a strong financial control environment
  • Manage the overall delivery and consolidation of the period-end financial close process within the Centrica Group timelines
  • Carrying out balance sheet reviews and reconciliations across the Centrica Power business, pro-actively identifying and communicating risks and opportunities upwards.
  • Rigorous control around the creation of tangible and intangible fixed assets, depreciation and amortisation policy, and twice-yearly impairment reviews.
  • Provide monthly and half year reporting to Group Finance and ensure Group queries are answered in a timely and professional manner
  • Lead the twice-yearly external audit of Centrica Power and all statutory audits of Centrica Power legal entities.
  • Support the business to help report performance of Centrica Power against the Group Annual Plan and forecasts.
  • Understand and apply the appropriate Centrica accounting policies for Centrica Power, liaising directly with the Group Technical Accounting team on judgement areas
  • Assisting the Centrica Power Financial Control Team with maintaining the financial control framework, including the continual development of the financial control environment and ownership of key financial controls.
  • Support the Financial Control Team by leading projects to support the business to drive reporting improvements to enhance understanding of financial data.
  • Pro-actively identify improvements to our processes and opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation and integration of financial systems. Drive towards automated and enhanced reporting, leveraging Office365 tools (e.g. Power Query, Power BI).
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Power business and across the wider Finance organisation.
  • Manage the workload and output of the Financial Accountant, Centrica Power Assets and provide inputs into performance reviews
Responsibilities

The Financial Control Manager owns the financial accounting and reporting process for the entire portfolio of Power Assets (excluding the 20% associate ownership of the nuclear fleet), including overseeing and monitoring an effective compliance and control environment. The portfolio includes operational assets and assets under construction, located in the UK, Belgium and Sweden.
This key role collaborates with the Centrica Finance teams to ensure that the correct accounting treatment is applied to the complex transactions associated with capital construction projects, including the acquisition of assets.
