Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting directly to the Executive Chairman, the Financial Controller will play a critical role in steering the financial direction of several businesses within the portfolio. You’ll partner closely with leadership teams, providing strategic insights, governance, and commercial guidance, while also being hands-on with financial operations.
With a strong initial focus on supporting our technology and innovation business (Speedshield Technologies), the remainder of your attention will span our other AALI entities. You’ll work on-site at our Hawthorn office five days a week, with occasional visits to other Melbourne facilities.
This is a role where you’ll make a tangible impact: bringing structure, spotting risks and opportunities early, and supporting sustainable growth across our group of companies.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting across multiple business entities
  • Deliver insightful monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to senior leadership
  • Partner with operational and executive teams to provide commercial modelling, financial analysis, and strategic recommendations
  • Monitor and improve cash flow, cost control, and operational efficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax obligations, and accounting standards
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Support and mentor accounting staff while driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Play a key role in strategic projects, including potential acquisitions and technology-led innovation
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth financial governance
