With continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our finance function and provide strategic insights that will drive operational and business performance.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years’ financial accounting experience, including leadership.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • CA/CPA qualification highly regarded (not essential).
  • Experience with Jobpac or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong Excel skills; BI tools exposure highly regarded.
  • Background in construction, engineering, or project-based environments preferred.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Financial Controller will oversee Aestec’s financial accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity of all financial data. You will manage a small, capable finance team, own the month-end process, and drive system and process improvements across our finance operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll partner closely with senior management to support decision-making and ensure the financial health and sustainability of the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a small finance team, building a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reports including P&L, balance sheet, cashflow, and variance analysis.
  • Own the month-end close process, including reconciliations and journals.
  • Partner with senior leadership on annual budgets, forecasts, and cost allocation.
  • Review and optimise labour and equipment sell rates to ensure profitability.
  • Drive system improvements, automation, and reporting enhancements in Jobpac and BI tools.
  • Manage compliance obligations including BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and statutory reporting.
  • Act as key contact for auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
