POSITION SUMMARY

Archangel Accounting Limited is looking for a proactive and dedicated Portfolio Financial Controller who will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of finance services are delivered to all our clients. This role would report to a Portfolio Finance Director and has no direct reports. This role would be most suited to a current Financial Controller, Management Accountant, Qualified Accountant, or Audit Senior who is ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with experience of working in an accountancy practice on multiple clients, being highly beneficial. The company and role is fully remote, and you must be based in the UK. Full time hours are preferred; flexible working is also possible.

Archangel Accounting is a chartered accountancy practice registered with the ICAEW providing clients with a range of services including fully outsourced finance functions and CFO level support. The company has a staff of around 20 employees, all of whom work fully remotely. We are committed to delivering high-quality services to our clients and fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment for our team members. Our clients are predominantly in the pharmaceutical start up sector with strong relationships with key VC’s in the biotech space.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a positive and pro-active person who wants to move into a new role in a small and growing company. You have a specialist skill set combining accounting capabilities and attention to detail with strong interpersonal skills. You are well organised and technically fluent with accountancy software and other IT platforms. You think critically to solve problems across a range of topics. You are looking for a company which will provide interesting project work and hands-on training. The purpose of the work must be clear with a company mission you can believe in.

• Responsible for financial controller level support to clients
• To develop key relationships with our clients and have a good understanding of their businesses
• To provide day to day management of clients requests and queries, delegating these where appropriate to the Archangel team
• Review of management accounts and balance sheet recs and posting of more complex adjustments to Xero
• Set up of new management accounts and annual roll forward of excel workbooks
• Submission of financial information to investors
• Assist client’s with cash flow management and forecasting
• To ensure the Archangel team deliver to all agreed timelines according to a monthly delivery schedule including clients management accounts and all statutory filing deadlines
• Suggest updates and improvements for financial controls used for our clients
• To take an active lead in all client budget setting exercises, working with our clients to ensure a quality budget model is implemented and agreed
• To provide high qualify data analysis and supporting clients with specific needs
• To assist the Senior Financial Accountant with client year end audits
• To manage statutory books and records and Companies House for our clients
• To mange share option schemes for our clients including HMRC compliance, employee communications, maintaining records and producing share calculations where required
• Proactively improve and develop Archangel processes, software and client reporting
• To assist in developing and training the Archangel team where appropriate and acting as a mentor to aid their development
• Assist the CEO/FD in all other ad hoc accounting areas.
