We are looking for an ACCA qualified accountant with demonstrable hands-on bookkeeping experience to fill the position of Financial Controller at Bioactive Pharma Ltd and to become a key member of our growing team.
Bioactive Pharma Ltd is the holding company for a group of businesses. Between them, these businesses manufacture and distribute a range of cold sore treatments across several territories including Australia, Canada, the USA, Norway, Sweden, Slovenia and the UK. The company is now developing a range of new products to complement its existing portfolio.
We directly own and manage two main brands (Herstat® & Dr. Sosnowski’s®) but manufacture our cold sore treatments under a total of four brand names globally.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this important role will assume immediate responsibility for maintaining all our internal accounting processes, covering a total of four small companies operating in three territories (The UK, USA and Canada). The departure of our company bookkeeper/accountant is the driver behind recruiting for this in-house role.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The ideal Candidate will be or have:​

• AAT or CIMA or ACCA qualified.
• Knowledge of Zoho Books or ability to quickly adapt to Accounting Software Systems.
• Advanced Excel skills (essential).
• A self-starter with the capability of working independently and as part of a team.
• An attention to detail and ability to self-review work.
• Process driven and keen to identify and develop potential improvements and cost savings.
• A flexible and proactive approach with the ability to take initiative.
• Ability to present documents in a clear, cohesive manner.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:

• Accounting: 3 years

Our Financial Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• All day-to-day bookkeeping of four group companies operating in three territories – the UK, USA and Canada.
• Bank reconciliation and intercompany reconciliations.
• Paying external partners and suppliers.
• Maintaining the permanent files.
• Inter-Company trial balance and reconciliation with global entities.
• Monthly reconciliation and reporting of gross/net margin sales.
• Control of fixed assets (register) across the group.
• Reviews of Stock Adjustments impacting Cost of Sales.
• Calculation and posting of monthly accruals and prepayments.
• Generation and submission of recharge invoices to other entities and group companies along with supporting documentation.
• Providing information and supporting evidence required for Year End & Interim Audits.
• Managing and filing all confirmation statements and filing international equivalents of corporation returns in the territories. To include generation and submission of Companies House and HMRC reports.
• Liaising with the group’s accountants in the three regions – UK, USA and Canada.
• Compilation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts across the group.
• Preparation of tax returns for each group company including VAT (UK), GST (Canada) and Federal and State Taxes (USA), where necessary liaising with the groups accountants in these regions to assist with these returns.
• Assisting the Quality Systems and Operations Manager with Purchase Orders, supplier quotations, and tenders.
