Description
About the role: As a Financial Controller, you will lead Everlab's finance function, taking ownership of financial reporting, controls, compliance, and operational finance as we scale. Reporting to leadership, you will be a key strategic partner - ensuring the financial integrity of the business while building the systems and processes needed to support our growth. This role combines strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for building best-in-class finance operations in a fast-growing healthcare company. This is a full-time role, with 3 days per week in-office for team members located near our Sydney or Melbourne offices. It's ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to build and own a finance function from the ground up. Responsibilities and scope: Financial reporting and controls: Own the month-end close process and prepare accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies. Compliance and audit: Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, tax obligations, and regulatory requirements. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners. Cash flow and treasury management: Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and banking relationships to ensure the business is well-capitalised and operationally efficient. Budgeting and strategic finance: Partner with leadership on annual budgeting, financial planning, and scenario analysis. Provide insights and recommendations that inform strategic decision-making. Team and systems development: Build scalable finance processes and systems to support Everlab's growth. Over time, you may grow and lead a small finance team. What we are looking for: Availability: Full-time with 3 in-office days in our Sydney or Melbourne offices. Qualified and experienced: CA or CPA qualified, with 6+ years of progressive accounting experience including at least 2 years in a senior or management-level role. Experience in a high-growth startup, healthcare, or investor-backed environment is highly valued. Tech-savvy and process-minded: You're highly proficient with accounting software (specifically Xero) and digital tools (e.g. DEXT, Airwallex), with a keen eye for accuracy and process efficiency. Experience implementing or improving finance systems is a plus. Strategic and commercial mindset: You go beyond the numbers - understanding how financial data drives business decisions and communicating insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Incredible teammate: You communicate with kindness and enjoy the growth that comes from giving and receiving direct and honest feedback. You acknowledge your mistakes, know when to "disagree and commit" and care more about the team being successful than you being right. You also recognise when to ask questions and help with the wider team. Ownership mindset with strong autonomy: You are motivated by what's best for Everlab long term, and you're confident in making sound decisions independently. You thrive in an autonomous environment, taking full responsibility for outcomes while being proactive in learning and improving. Whether it's closing the books, presenting to the board, or supporting a fundraise, you understand that excellence means caring about the details, acting with initiative, and always raising the bar. Nice to haves: Investor and board reporting experience: You have experience preparing board packs, investor reporting, or supporting due diligence processes for fundraising or M&A. Working at Everlab: Do work that matters: We’re building the future of preventive health. Use your skills to prevent disease, improve access to personalised care, and reduce pressure on the health system. Work-life flexibility: Hybrid or remote work options, with flexibility to manage life beyond the 9 to 5. Experience Everlab as a customer: Full access to the Everlab health program, provided after successfully passing probation. Share in our success: Employee Share Option Plan included as part of your total remuneration. We grow together. People you’ll love working with: A welcoming, mission-driven team of smart, thoughtful people doing meaningful work. Applications close Sunday, March 1st 2026
