Description
We are seeking a commercially focused Financial Controller to play a key role in shaping the financial future of GPN Vaccines. This role is a strategic, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys building scalable financial systems, partnering with leadership, and supporting data driven decision-making in a dynamic environment. The role offers exceptional flexibility, including part-time (0.8 FTE), full-time, or school-friendly hours, and can be based Australia-wide (with a preference for candidates in Adelaide or Canberra). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Leadership & Control Own and manage the company’s financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Oversee statutory compliance, including tax, audit, and regulatory requirements Commercial & Strategic Focus Act as a trusted business partner to the CEO and executive team, providing commercial insights to support strategic decision-making Develop financial models to support investment decisions, grant funding, R&D programs, and future commercialisation Monitor financial performance against strategy and proactively identify risks and opportunities Systems, Technology & Process Improvement Lead the development and optimisation of financial systems, tools, and processes Leverage technology and automation to improve efficiency, scalability, and reporting quality Ensure financial systems can support growth, complexity, and international operations Governance & Stakeholder Engagement Support ARC & board reporting and investor communications Liaise with external advisors including auditors, tax advisors, and grant bodies Contribute to strong financial governance and internal controls appropriate for a growing biotech organisation Essential CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified Minimum 5+ years’ experience in industry, ideally in a startup or growing organisation Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights High level of comfort with financial systems, data, and technology Proactive, forward-looking mindset with a willingness to improve and build processes across business units Desirable Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, or R&D-driven environments Experience working with grants, funding bodies, or investors Exposure to international operations or multi-entity structures
