JOB OVERVIEW

Our client in Concord, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee all financial and accounting activities of our construction company. The ideal candidate will hold a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation and bring a solid background in financial planning, cost control and regulatory compliance within the construction sector. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and efficiency of our accounting department.

Qualifications:

  • CMA designation (Certified Management Accountant) is required, OR a
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting systems. Proficiency in Jonas Software will be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, project-based environment

Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators to evaluate financial performance.
  • Provide financial forecasts and cash flow analysis to support strategic decisions.

Cost Accounting & Project Financial Management:

  • Monitor and control project-related expenditures.
  • Allocate costs to appropriate projects and ensure proper job costing.
  • Liaise with project managers to maintain accurate financial tracking of active
  • construction sites.

Regulatory Compliance & Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, regulatory requirements, and financial
  • reporting standards.
  • Liaise with external auditors and oversee the year-end audit process.
  • Maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting software and systems.
  • Enhance financial procedures and introduce best practices for efficiency.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
