ABOUT HUGO WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Own all accounting, statutory, tax, treasury, and operational finance responsibilities for Hugo’s US operations while managing consolidated financial reporting and the group audit or reviews for Hugo Technologies Inc. Ensure accurate and compliant financials under US GAAP, maintain strong internal controls, and coordinate with Africa-based finance teams for intercompany funding, IFRS–US GAAP conversion, and local audit support. Drive automation, working capital discipline, and scalable processes that improve accuracy, cash efficiency, and financial insight across the group Key Responsibilities: 1. US Accounting & Reporting Own the US entity’s books, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and timely, accurate financial statements. Manage month-end close, reconciliations, and revenue recognition. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for consolidation and internal decision-making. Maintain disciplined accounting processes and strengthen controls as the business scales. 2. Group Consolidation & Audit Coordinate the group consolidation under US GAAP, incorporating IFRS-based Africa subsidiaries. Coordinate external financial reviews and audit readiness, ensuring all entities maintain documentation, reconciliations, and controls that meet auditor, lender or investor standards. Ensure intercompany balances and funding are reconciled and compliant with group policies. Maintain documentation for intercompany accounting best practices and transfer pricing (knowledge a plus). 3. US Compliance, Tax & Controls Oversee all US statutory, tax, and regulatory filings, working with external advisors. Identify and mitigate financial and compliance risks, including FX and intercompany exposure. Maintain internal control frameworks appropriate for a high-performing, growth-stage finance function. 4. Operational Finance, Working Capital & Treasury Oversee client billing, payments, and receivables, ensuring accuracy and timely collections. Manage cash flow forecasting, US bank accounts, and fund transfers to subsidiaries. Monitor and optimize working capital i.e.AR, AP, and intercompany, to ensure liquidity and efficiency. Coordinate with Operations and Client Success to validate billing data and service metrics. Oversee US payroll funding, processing, and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy, compliance with tax and benefit obligations, and timely filings in coordination with HR or external providers 5. Business Partnering & Decision Enablement Partner with FP&A and business leaders to ensure reporting supports performance measurement and decision-making. Provide insights on trends, margins, and working capital drivers to improve profitability and capital efficiency. Present financial results in a clear, actionable format for leadership and stakeholders. 6. Systems, Automation & Leadership Support process automation and system improvements within NetSuite and reporting tools to enable scale. Supervise the Billing & Bookkeeping Specialist and collaborate across finance, FP&A, and operations teams. Promote a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Certification: CPA, ACCA, or CA (fully qualified). Experience: 8–12 years in accounting or controllership, including: US GAAP financial reporting and audit experience. Exposure to IFRS–US GAAP conversion and multi-entity consolidation. Hands-on experience with intercompany accounting and working capital management. Cross-border coordination with multiple entities or subsidiaries. Technical Skills: ERP experience (NetSuite preferred). Advanced Excel/Google Sheets for reconciliation and analysis. Strong understanding of financial data and reporting structures to support FP&A collaboration. Knowledge of transfer pricing is a plus. Soft Skills: Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive. High degree of judgment, integrity, and confidentiality. Excellent communicator who can translate financial data into business insight. Collaborative, partners effectively with the business, and leads through influence across global teams.
