EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

  • Qualified Accountant with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategy and business plans.
  • Effective dissemination of information to large and diverse groups.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong and proactive creative thinker who can apply and influence initiatives to the organisation and/or its services.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to secure senior management and Board approval for strategy.
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate the type of initiatives and programmes within the scope of the post and initiate, develop and deliver new initiatives that build on their successes.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Working closely with members of the Board, CEO, colleagues and volunteers, the Financial Controller for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind will play a key role in the management of the finance operations and in the delivery of the strategic goals of the organisation.
As leader of the Finance team, the role will require consistent high-quality standards, while managing a diverse team to deliver on the charity’s strategic goals.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to robust accounting policies and procedures, which ensure accountability and transparency over the spending of the charity’s funds. They will also be responsible for the oversight of high-quality back-office support which is driven and managed by critical KPI’s. They will work closely with leadership colleagues to provide insights and feedback to drive outcome improvements.
They will work closely with the CEO to build a culture of employee engagement and continuous improvements to ensure that a high-quality service is provided to all stakeholders.
