Utrecht

Finance, Business Operations
HBO BACHELOR
As a Financial Controller, you support and advise management on steering the unit by executing the planning and control cycle. Additionally, you contribute to understanding complex organizational issues and determining the correct (financial) direction. In doing so, you are able to identify potential conflicts of interest. Furthermore, you organize and guide the implementation of policy products. Finally, you are the primary point of contact for management regarding the products to which you contribute, such as the budget and management reports.
The police are responsible for maintaining public order and safety in the Netherlands. Police work ranges from providing assistance in emergency situations to combating crime. The Central Netherlands Unit has set a strong course with three lines of development: public stability (internal and external), strengthening digital security, and tackling subversive crime. Ambitious lines of development require a solid foundation. An important part of this foundation consists of the staff professionals within the unit. The staff monitors political and societal developments, enriches issues, and anticipates expectations and opportunities as much as possible.
As a Financial Controller, you will be part of the Control Team. Together with Executive Affairs, Communications, Police Profession, and Safety, Integrity & Complaints, the Control Team forms part of the staff. The team consists of 15 FTEs and focuses on the broad field of control within the unit. This means focusing not only on finances but also on operational police processes. The Control Team holds a strong position within the unit. In the coming period, the focus will be on further developing the role as a business partner for management.
You are an experienced and curious financial controller with a feel for numbers. You are confident, do not shy away from difficult discussions, and hold integrity in high regard. Problem analysis comes naturally to you, you handle working under pressure well, and you take initiative in seeking solutions. You are alert to global developments and enjoy delving into relevant societal, organization-specific, and professional developments. You effectively utilize the knowledge you acquire in the process. Additionally, you are eager to contribute to the development of the team and take responsibility for it.
In your work, you are connecting and collaborative, but you set boundaries where necessary and can maintain an independent stance when faced with conflicting interests. You strive for structural solutions rather than addressing symptoms. You enjoy thinking outside the box.
Furthermore, you have:
The formal workplace is Utrecht (Kroonstraat). There is room for 1 FTE. This is a position for 36 hours per week. You have the opportunity to organize your work flexibly. The team works in a hybrid manner with a healthy work-life balance.

Upon satisfactory performance, we will convert the appointment into a permanent position after one year.
Furthermore, you can expect from us:
