Build the financial foundations that scale a global platform. Thanks is operating at a critical inflection point in the retail media and monetization space. We’ve established ourselves as the customer-first monetization platform, successfully expanding from post-purchase into the entire customer journey - from app home screens and email through to order tracking and beyond. As we enter our next phase of global scale, we’re hiring a Financial Controller to build our finance function from the ground up. This is a zero-to-one role for a senior operator who thrives in complexity - equally comfortable owning day-to-day execution and designing the systems, controls, and strategy required for long-term scale. The role This is a hands-on, foundational role. You are not inheriting a mature finance function; you are creating it. You’ll lead the financial engine of a fast-growing, multi-market business - bringing clarity, discipline, and confidence to how we operate. You’ll work closely with the founders and leadership team to turn speed into efficiency, and complexity into decision-ready insight. Within your first six months, you’ll begin building out the finance function, including hiring and leading a small team. What you’ll do Own the financial foundations: Take end-to-end ownership of the general ledger, month-end close, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and treasury - including complex partner payouts and multi-market bank settlements across the US. Bring order to a fast-moving business: Wrangle manual and fragmented processes - bringing structure, discipline, and increasing automation as the business scales. Build systems that scale: Evaluate, select, and own accounting, billing, expense, and finance systems, and work closely with Product and Engineering to design processes that scale with volume, complexity, and growth. Own revenue complexity and control: Lead revenue recognition across a diversified, performance-based model (CPC, CPA, CPL, CPR), including multi-entity consolidation, multi-currency reporting, and audit-ready controls. Turn numbers into decisions: Build financial models and reporting that surface unit economics, cash flow dynamics, and margin trade-offs - providing clear, decision-grade insight to help leadership run an efficient, scalable business. Build and lead the finance function: Hire, develop, and lead a small finance team, act as a trusted finance partner across the business, and progressively reduce founder dependency by bringing clarity, confidence, and structure to financial decision-making. What we’re looking for 7+ years’ progressive experience in accounting or finance, including experience gained within high-growth technology businesses CPA or CA qualification required Proven experience building or significantly scaling a finance function Strong understanding of complex revenue models - adtech preferred, with marketplaces (or similar two-sided models) or fintech also suitable Deep understanding of cash flow, forecasting, and partner settlement dynamics Comfortable operating daily across execution, systems, and strategy Strong commercial judgment, able to translate numbers into clear business insight Experience working across multiple geographies and currencies Confidence partnering closely with founders and senior leaders Location & working style Strong preference for US West Coast-based candidates to enable effective collaboration across time zones Open to other US locations for exceptional candidates Remote-first, with a high degree of trust and ownership Why Thanks? Responsibilities
