WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join us on a 1-year fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting and accounting activities, managing day-to-day operations of the finance department, and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

SKILLSET AND EXPERIENCE

  • Formal qualifications in accounting and finance. ACA preferred alongside other similar qualifications
  • Several years of experience in a business or finance environment; management experience; leadership skills; interpersonal skills; outstanding mathematical skills
  • Experience in working with large data sets, and implementing strong control and processes environment
  • Strong focus on quality, completeness and accuracy of reporting data
  • High attention to detail; organisational skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; research skills; analytical skills; computer skills; understanding of data privacy standards.
  • Honesty; integrity; reliability; solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal & communication skills
  • Works well under pressure and a ‘can do’ attitude

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all company accounts and investments
  • Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement robust financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Create strong systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Report to the CFO with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Maintain and create a strong accounting and reporting control framework throughout the finance team and wider business, overseeing and monitoring effective processes
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants
