FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

We are currently looking for a full time Financial Controller forour businesses that sell and produce asphalt and concrete.
The Controller will beresponsible for maintaining a full set of accounting records on an accurate and timely basis. The successful candidate will be required to be organized, work in a fast-paced environment and work with the comptroller and President of the company. Also, the successful candidate shall be required to multitask and jump into special projects as and when required.
Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for:
1. Working collaboratively with others in the accounting and finance department team.
2. Supervising and mentoring finance team members, fostering professional development and a positive work environment.
3. Day to day, maintaining records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
4. Monthly reporting of interim financial statements
5. Preparing annual budgets and variance analysis on a regular basis
6. Monitoring and reporting cash flow, financial performance, and key performance indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement
7. Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
8. Reconciliation of bank accounts, intercompany accounts, HST and all government remittances
9. Preparing year end file for external accountants
10. Regularly make recommendations for improving or changing standard operating procedures

Qualified candidates shall have:

  • A CPA designation at least 2 years
  • 2-3 years of related experience in related industries preferred
  • Must be computer savvy in Microsoft and have experience with Accounting Software, preferably Jonas and Quickbooks
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for private enterprise
