In addition, our hybrid working approach means that you’ll be able to work from home for up to three days each week with the remaining time in one of our UK offices, in Winchester, London or Belfast.
The role
You will be overseeing the Finance team and managing the day-to-day running of the finance function supporting accounts receivable, payable, management accounts and payroll.
You will also be responsible for the company’s financial reporting, its monthly, quarterly and annual accounts, VAT returns, budgets and regular cash flow.
Key responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Cash Flow Management
Overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow and general ledger management.
Compile weekly cash flow, including planning for foreign currency needs.
Ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transaction.
Resolving any escalated credit control issues.
Leading the Team
Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring high performance, retention, and professional development.
Onboarding new employees and induction into systems and processes
Conduct 6-monthly staff appraisals and regular one-to-ones with the finance team.
Reporting
Prepare and issue monthly financial statements including dashboards to senior management providing analysis where required.
Monitor and analyse financial performance, break even and cost analysis for profitability.
Calculate the UK and Irish charge out rates and update the management software.
Develop financial forecasts to support the Group and UK’s strategic plan.
Provide monthly UK accounts to Group for consolidation.
Systems and Data Management
Ownership of UK accounting software platform
Suggest updates and improvements to processes, including payroll, invoicing and platforms used.
Support the Head of Finance implementing financial strategies and systems.
Financial Compliance
Complete UK VAT returns, and non-domestic VAT returns for Ireland, Norway & Finland registrations.
Management of monthly Payroll for 100+ staff, pensions submission and onboard new staff for UK and Ireland.
Implement and monitor internal controls.
Manage external audits, ensuring timely implementation of audit recommendations and supplying audited figures for Group audit consolidation..
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
Payroll & Employee Financial Administration
Management of monthly Payroll for 100+ staff, overseeing onboarding of new staff for UK and Ireland.
Ownership of pension compliance including monthly pensions submission and annual review.
Ad Hoc Responsibilities
Other tasks as reasonably required from time to time.
Your skills and experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good organisational skills to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
Good team working skills and a positive, pro-active attitude.
Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload with established timescales.
Analytical capability with strong attention to detail.
Part or fully qualified AAT / ACCA / ACA / CIMA.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills – Minimum pivot table and look ups.
Power BI experience beneficial but not essential.
