Job Posting: Finance Controller Location: Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS), Vancouver, BC Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000 per year Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Expected Start Date: July 2025
About VAHS
Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS) was established in 1991 to address the lack of culturally appropriate healthcare for Indigenous people living in Vancouver. Grounded in Indigenous worldviews, VAHS offers a broad spectrum of health and wellness services that proactively address the social determinants of health rather than just treating illness.
Located in the Downtown Eastside, VAHS serves some of the most marginalized populations in the country. We provide holistic care to clients living with intersecting health challenges that often stem from systemic inequities, trauma, and colonialism.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Finance Controller to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Finance Controller oversees all financial operations and ensures compliance with organizational policies, GAAP standards, and funding requirements.
This role is critical to the continued stability and growth of VAHS. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in budgeting, reporting, financial analysis, and staff supervision. Preference will be given to candidates with Indigenous ancestry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting and financial operations for VAHS and related entities
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and funding partners
  • Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and financial procedures
  • Supervise and support finance staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment
