ABOUT THE JOB (WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR):

Reporting to the President, the Controller is the operational finance leader ensuring budgets and forecasts are met, cash flow is tightly managed, and internal controls are strong. You’ll work cross-functionally with Sales and Supply Chain to approve production, inventory levels, promotions, and trade spend, and you’ll oversee our bookkeeper and day-to-day accounting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (WHAT YOU NEED TO EXCEL IN THIS POSITION):

  • 10+ years in accounting/finance with 5+ years as a Controller or Finance Director.
  • CPA, CA required.
  • Proven experience in CPG/FMCG (food industry strongly preferred).
  • Full-cycle financials expertise: GL, month-end, year-end, audits, tax.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets (complex models, scenario analysis).
  • Strong with QuickBooks or Odoo and comfortable adopting new systems; ERP experience/implementation a plus.
  • Track record of cash-flow management, budget ownership, and cross-functional partnership.
  • Enjoys technology, automation tools and dashboards
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and clear communication.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments; proactive, tech-savvy, team-first leader.

Yumi Organics is looking for a Financial Director/Controller to join our ever-growing team! You will work directly with the president and be responsible in making sure our financial budgets and forecasts are respected and cashflow carefully monitored. You will work closely with Sales and Supply Chain to approve production, inventory levels, promotions and tradespend. You will build strong internal control procedures and policies and oversee our bookkeeper.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepare accurate, on-time monthly financials, quarterly tax returns, and annual statements; liaise with external accountants for year-end.
  • Validate month-end inventory and COGS with Supply Chain and Accounting.
  • Own budgets, forecasts, and daily cash flow; identify optimization opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Build weekly/monthly executive reports and decision-driving analyses for the President.
  • Develop analytical tools and financial models to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and documentation.
  • Approve production runs, promotions, and trade spend; support cash-flow needs for new accounts.
  • Oversee accounting operations (A/R, A/P, payroll adjustments); investigate and resolve disputes.
  • Process bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Process quarterly or monthly sales tax filing.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards; manage audits and income tax filings.
  • File and manage grants; maintain rigorous internal filing.
  • Monitor and validate deductions, credits, promos, spending, purchase orders and manufacturer chargebacks.
  • Champion technology and automation to improve efficiency (ERP, integrations, dashboards).
