Gambler’s Help provides free, confidential support to people experiencing gambling harm, as well as family members, carers, and loved ones affected by someone else's gambling. Our experienced team of therapeutic and financial counsellors delivers a range of person-centred supports, including: Financial counselling and practical debt management support Individual counselling delivered in-person or online Support for families, carers and significant others Advocacy and referral pathways Practical tools and strategies to support positive change We provide support in a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment, tailoring our services to each person's goals, strengths and circumstances. Your role, your impact As a Financial Counsellor, you'll play a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by gambling harm to improve their financial wellbeing, regain stability and work towards their goals. In this role, you will: Provide intake, assessment and information to people accessing the service. Deliver financial counselling, casework and advocacy, helping clients understand their options and navigate financial challenges. Identify and respond to the needs of people experiencing gambling-related harm, applying a person-centred approach. Participate in community engagement and statewide initiatives aligned with funding and service requirements. Maintain accurate client records, case notes and service data in line with organisational and reporting standards. Contribute to a culture of learning through supervision, team collaboration and ongoing professional development.‌ Who we're looking for Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) and eligibility for membership with Financial Counselling Victoria. Experience working with vulnerable, disadvantaged or complex-needs clients, providing responsive and client-centred support. Proven financial counselling experience (preferred), with an understanding of gambling-related harm and highly developed advocacy, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of referral pathways, collaborative practice and service navigation. Demonstrated experience in clinical practice, ideally within a multidisciplinary environment. An understanding of the Social Determinants of Health and the Social Model of Health. The ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment supporting people with complex needs. Trauma-informed practice and experience in family violence financial counselling will be highly regarded. An appreciation of the not-for-profit and community services sector.
