Position Summary The Financial Counselor Lead plays a vital role in supporting patients and families by providing financial guidance, explaining billing processes, and ensuring payment collection is handled with care and professionalism. This position combines customer service excellence with strong financial and administrative skills to create a smooth and supportive experience for patients. Essential Functions Provide exemplary customer service in alignment with Orlando Health’s values. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, payers, and team members. Identify and resolve customer service concerns, implementing service recovery when needed. Accurately gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information. Explain necessary forms and obtain required signatures. Verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and follow up on pending or denied claims. Explain insurance coverage, collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay balances. Establish payment arrangements for outstanding balances as needed. Resolve patient billing questions with complete and accurate information. Coordinate with physicians to obtain necessary authorizations, diagnoses, and procedure details. Document all benefit and authorization details in the registration system. Qualifications Education/Training High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of annual Corporate and Patient Financial Services educational requirements. Experience Minimum 2 years’ experience in a financial, business office, or customer service role. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong typing skills and at least 1 year of PC/Windows experience. Licensure/Certification None required. Why Orlando Health?
