We’re building a team with diverse and unique perspectives to help us on our mission to demystify investing. Our goal is to help our customers achieve better long-term financial outcomes.
In 2024, we’ll be focusing on making our business cash flow profitable. We’ll also be radically improving our product for our core customer base. In the UK, we now have over 1.6 million registered users, and we offer a range of products such as the Freetrade Pension, a stocks and shares ISA, and UK Treasury bills.
We are looking for an exceptional Financial Crime Associate to join our team. You will work within the FinCrime function, playing a vital role in detecting, monitoring, and safeguarding Freetrade and its customers against any form of financial crime while ensuring we meet our regulatory obligations.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the day-to-day activities of our Financial Crime team. This includes optimising monitoring processes, managing regulatory compliance tasks, and addressing financial crime risks effectively. With our customer base expected to grow significantly due to marketing campaigns and company objectives, your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining robust protections and ensuring the team operates at a satisfactory level to meet these demands.
Key Responsibilities:

As a Financial Crime Associate, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding Freetrade and ensuring compliance with financial crime regulations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and Investigations:
  • Reviewing customer screening, transaction monitoring, and trade surveillance alerts.
  • Conducting investigations into suspicious activities, escalating cases as necessary to relevant authorities (e.g., Police, NCA, FCA).
  • Managing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) cases and monitoring high-risk customers.
  • Support and Escalations:
  • Handling escalations from internal teams, including complex Know-Your-Customer (KYC) queries.
  • Providing financial crime guidance to the Client Admin team and other business units.
  • Compliance and Optimisation:
  • Conducting financial crime monitoring activities, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), Fraud, and Market Abuse.
  • Supporting the development and scaling of financial crime processes to align with the company’s growth.
  • Identifying areas for process improvements and helping to implement scalable solutions.
  • Collaboration and Growth:
  • Providing ongoing support as the business expands, ensuring compliance and mitigating financial crime risks.
  • Partnering with teams across the organization to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.

This role offers the opportunity to work on critical initiatives, supporting the company as it scales and builds a robust financial crime prevention framework.

About you:

  • You are based in Hungary.
  • You are passionate about our product and our mission to protect our customers from the threat of Financial Crime.
  • You have experience working in a regulated financial services company with exposure to different types of financial crime.
  • The opportunity to help build our company and embed a culture of doing the right thing truly excites you.
  • You are excited about what we’re doing at Freetrade and where we’re headed!
  • You have a strong knowledge of financial services and experience operating within rules and regulations.
  • You are aware of the UK’s financial crime regulatory framework.
