We're looking for a Financial Crime Senior Risk Specialist where you'll be at the heart of protecting Westpac New Zealand from financial crime risks by providing specialist guidance, supporting complex decision-making, mentoring team members, and ensuring we continue to meet our regulatory obligations. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role where your expertise will help shape operational excellence across Financial Crime Screening. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, provide subject matter expertise, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help strengthen the controls that protect our customers and our organisation. One day you may be coaching colleagues through complex alerts, the next identifying process improvements, supporting Workflow, analysing trends, supporting projects, or providing risk insights that enhance our overall financial crime framework. Have the knowledge to complete and support the team through the ability to assess alerts at Tier 1 and Tier 2 Experience in financial crime, risk, compliance, banking operations, or a related financial services environment Strong understanding of risk management principles and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess information, identify risks, and make sound decisions Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple teams A passion for coaching, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with others Strong verbal and written communication skills with confidence engaging across different levels of the business A continuous improvement mindset with the curiosity to identify opportunities, solve problems, strengthen controls and the maintenance of procedural documents Why This Role Stands Out This isn't just another financial crime role.
