FINANCIAL DATA ANALYST (CPA/CA)

Exciting opportunity in the insurance industry for a finance data professional. This role focuses on data governance, reporting, and quality assurance within Finance. It offers hybrid work in Markham, exposure to IFRS17 and financial systems, and collaboration with risk, IT, and governance teams.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in building data capabilities within Finance, applying consistent data strategies and principles while considering data risks throughout the lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal Finance stakeholders, IT, legal, privacy, and data governance teams on operational and project initiatives.
  • Manage the Data Issue Log, overseeing resolution and escalating to the Data Governance Office when necessary.
  • Contribute to Finance Data Forums by preparing materials, facilitating discussions, and producing quarterly data quality dashboards and scorecards.
  • Maintain team policies, user guides, and documentation.
  • Support accurate and timely execution of Chart of Account (COA) requests and maintain Finance hierarchies such as IFRS17, CGAAP, and Management Information (MI).
  • Review and assess COA intake requests.
  • Develop and refine efficiency metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to enhance the Finance data dictionary and MI inventories.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of team procedures and processes.
  • Represent Finance in Data Impact Assessments (DIA) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA).
  • Implement internal control policies and embed governance controls in Finance change activities.
  • Collaborate with governance and IT to build automated data quality and retention processes.
  • Support continuous improvement of governance requirements.
  • Engage with Finance teams, risk, and auditors on testing, evidence, and iCARE updates.
  • Manage relevant data on the Canada Finance SharePoint site.
  • Prepare and maintain Finance reports as required.
