About The Herring Group The Herring Group is a professional services and data analytics firm. Our team serves as outsourced financial leaders for landscape companies. We focus on the strategies and tactics that help optimize the profit margin of companies, the life margin of owners and executives, and the autonomy of employees. This is a 100% remote position that provides location flexibility to work from home (anywhere in Texas, Georgia, or Colorado) approximately 30 hours per week, during business hours. The Opportunity As a Financial Leadership Partner (FLP), you will: Serve as a trusted financial leader for our clients, guiding them on the Path to 12% and helping them improve profitability and operational clarity. Lead financial strategy and reporting for a portfolio of clients. Customize financial models and dashboards to support client goals. Facilitate conversations that drive pricing, margin, and operational improvements. Collaborate with our team to enhance internal processes and service offerings. What We're Looking For 10-20 years of experience Background in management consulting, CFO or Controller type roles Experience working with companies in the SMB market Entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to help grow a purpose-driven firm. Strategic thinking and the ability to turn insights into action. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Comfort with financial modeling, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making. A passion for helping small business owners succeed—financially and personally. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or an MBA Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with a FP&A, CFO, Controller, or Consultant title Experience with financial operations with small to mid-sized businesses (between $3 and $50 million in revenue) Previous business owner or entrepreneurial experience considered a plus Proven track record of driving financial performance improvement through financial analysis Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships Experience working with data analytics tools to extract and interpret financial trends Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment and manage multiple client engagements Must reside in Texas, Georgia, or Colorado
