The Financial Management Consultant is responsible for the ongoing review, monitoring, development, enhancement, and implementation of the Department’s agency/service provider accountability frameworks (divisional/program), ensuring the framework elements, agreements/contracts, reporting requirements, review and risk assessment tools are practical and meet modern comptrollership principles.
The incumbent will conduct financial reviews and audits of external agencies to ensure the appropriate use of public funds. Responsible for developing and implementing a policy and process for providing agencies with financial and management training and support, ensuring they have sound financial and accounting practices and systems and fully comply with the accountability framework’s guidelines and standards. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in developing and implementing a policy and process for conducting systematic and cyclical audits of agencies/service providers based on a coordinated and standardized risk assessment across the departmental divisions and programs.
