Position: Dealership Financial Controller/Manager
Reports to: Dealer Principal
Role Purpose
To safeguard the dealership’s assets and maximise profitability by producing accurate, timely financial statements, controlling cashflow, and ensuring full compliance with OEM and GAAP/IFRS requirements.

Responsibilities

Monthly Accounts

  • Prepare trial balance, management accounts and variance commentary by the 5th working day

· Consolidate new‑, used‑ and F&I gross, parts, service and body‑shop P&Ls. |

Cash & Banking

  • Daily cash‑up verification, banking and short/over investigation
  • Monitor EFT, credit‑card deposits; release parts & vehicle orders once cleared.

Stock Control

  • OEM, bank, or captive finance.
  • Post curtailments, interest and VAT.
  • Audit sold‑not‑paid (SNP) units and ensure timeous settlements.

Debtors / Creditors

  • Oversee AR ageing; escalate overdue customer accounts to sales managers
  • Approve supplier invoices, match POs, and process payments within terms.

Payroll & HR Interface

  • Review time sheets, commissions, overtime, leave provisions; liaise with HR/payroll vendor.
  • Ensure PAYE, UIF, SDL and pension deductions are correct and submitted on time.

Statutory & Compliance

  • Prepare VAT201, EMP201 and Provisional Tax returns.
  • Support annual audit; maintain fixed‑asset register and stock counts.
  • Adhere to POPIA and Consumer Protection Act recordkeeping.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in annual budget, quarterly re‑forecast and capex proposals.
  • Track KPI dashboard: gross‑per‑unit (GPU), absorption %, DOC breakeven.

Internal Controls

  • Implement OEM / group accounting policies.
  • Perform random parts stock bin checks, fuel log audits, demo mileage checks.

Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain dealer management system (VMG or similar).
  • Export GL data to Excel / Power BI for analysis.

Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: BCom Accounting (or equivalent); SAIPA/SAICA articles advantageous.
- Experience: 3 + years in motor‑retail or similar fast‑moving stock environment.
- Systems: Dealer Management System (DMS) experience essential; advanced Excel.
- Regulatory: Sound knowledge of VAT, PAYE, IFRS/GAAP, CPA.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, deadline‑driven, able to communicate with sales staff and OEM auditors alike.
