High-Level Overview The client seeks a Financial Markets Consultant to provide analytical, research, coordination, and project management support across financial markets activities. The Consultant will contribute to programme planning, portfolio analysis, results tracking, and knowledge generation, supporting the effective implementation and reporting of financial markets initiatives. The role will provide hands-on support to project leads and work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and delivery. Role and Responsibilities Role: Financial Markets Consultant Direct Report: Principal – Sustainable Finance Candidates Required: 1 Key Deliverables: Programme Planning & Management Support the design of projects and programmes, including preparation of approval documents and drafting of terms of reference. Track implementation milestones and support project coordination to ensure timely and effective delivery. Development Impact, Portfolio Analysis & Results Tracking Collect, analyse, and update portfolio and project data. Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks, including development impact reporting and risk analysis. Ensure lessons learned are captured and inform programme refinement. Communication & Knowledge Sharing Synthesize research findings and project outcomes into knowledge products, including briefing notes, blogs, newsletters, and opinion pieces. Support preparation of technical content for events and contribute to post-event follow-up and monitoring. Resource Planning & Budget Management Support financial and resource planning, including budget tracking, monitoring, and reporting. Assist project leads in tracking programme implementation against workplans and budgets. Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination Liaise with internal teams, external partners, and market stakeholders to support collaboration and partnership management. Contribute to coordination efforts that advance the institution's financial market development agenda. Research & Knowledge Management Undertake market research and maintain data flows to inform strategy execution. Support knowledge management initiatives that strengthen the team's evidence base and thought leadership. Requirements Experience Required: 3-5 years of professional experience in finance, investments, capital markets, or a related field, including experience in an analytical or support role. Prior experience in the financial sector (e.g. banking, asset management, DFIs, or consulting). Experience working in multi-stakeholder and multicultural environments. Technical Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, investments, actuarial science, or international development. Solid understanding of financial markets, investment products, and emerging trends, including responsible investing, impact finance, and blended finance. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including Excel-based analysis and preparation of high-quality presentations. Ability to support monitoring, evaluation, and results tracking processes. Other Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational and coordination capabilities. Ability to engage effectively with senior colleagues and external stakeholders. Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment. Working Arrangement Location: Nairobi-based or remote, subject to agreement.
