Description:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Finance or Accounting.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in general or cost accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Mine experience beneficial
  • Experience with Pronto an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

  • Self-starter with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in operational metrics, variance, and unit cost analysis.
  • Experience with project costing or cost accounting.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

This position is responsible for accurate and timely internal cost and operational reporting, forecasting, budgeting and analysis thereby ensuring all reporting deadlines are met and accounting records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The incumbent is accountable to the Mine Site Controller

RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Assist Mine site Controller as required.
  • Gather and compile financial and operational data.
  • Assist with analysis of financial and operational information.
  • Proactively engage in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, trend analysis, and strategic business planning for the mines.
  • Aid in monthly reporting, including variance to budget and forecasts.
  • Prepare fixed asset reporting schedules monthly and monitor capital expenditure and the AFE process.
  • Assist the Accounting & Reporting Function with financial analysis and reporting to stakeholders. Comply with all of the HR, safety, technical, environmental, operating, and business systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant systems and provide governance for system optimization and consistency.
  • Participate in budget preparation and monthly forecasting; work with managers and their teams to finalize reports and resolve issues.
