Highly competitive salary, plus 12% superannuation Fixed term full time position, up to 12 months St John of God Midland Private Hospital Join St John of God Midland Private Hospital as a Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant on a fixed-term, full-time 12-month contract, supporting the successful opening in August. In this collaborative role, you will work closely with the finance team and broader management group to deliver high-quality financial, accounting, and analytical insights that enhance performance and support strategic decision-making, including forecasting, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation. About the new Midland Private Hospital A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus. A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region The hospital will feature: 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit. 33-bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit Eight operating theatres. A cardiac/vascular catheter laboratory The Position Work as a member of the Finance team towards the development a strong culture of performance management, performance improvement and stewardship through the hospital. This includes adapting/utilising Group Finance or Hospitals’ Finance teams’ tools and developing appropriate local reporting and internal systems or processes in support of operational and financial improvement. A business partner to the Division and guided by the Director of Finance and Corporate Services, this position collaborates in identifying issues and driving change, thereby ensuring outcomes from analytics are embedded in day-to-day operations. Provide guidance and be a mentor to the Accounts Officer in resolving queries from Hospital caregivers and Group Finance on a broad range of financial issues for example IAPs, PO’s, Sundry Debt, patient accounts and any other day to day financial queries. Assist the Finance Team in all financial compliance matters. Monitor productivity and performance with departmental managers on an ongoing basis and collaborates to ensure cost-center performance aligns with agreed budgets and improvement plans. Ensures that daily productivity reporting is accurate and works with departmental managers to resolve issues where it is not. Lead the preparation of capital and operating budgets in collaboration with the Division’s Executive and Manager team and in accordance with instructions and timetables set out by Group Finance. Assist in completion of reporting, review and analytics regarding the annual budget including the actions areas required to meet step changes in activity or the cost base (including associated KPI’s), timing/phasing of the budget, year on year trends and assisting the Director of Finance and Ensure compliance with Group Finance policies and procedures. Work with Group Finance to ensure the accuracy of the month end results by cost-centre using accounting knowledge, detailed analytics and an appreciation of the Hospital operation. Support the Director of Finance in preparing financial reporting and analysis. To include a proactive investigation and resolution of anomalies prior to finalisation. Prepare reports for DMC and other Committees to a high standard for review by the Director of Finance and Corporate Services prior to submission. Support the Director of Finance and Corporate Services in obtaining a clear understanding of the trends, opportunities and risks in the month end numbers in addition to an understanding of how the Division has responded in meeting budgeting and action plans/special initiatives or business case objectives. The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, or Business and bring proven experience within a large, complex organisation, with strong capability across financial management, accounting, and analysis. You will demonstrate advanced skills in financial modelling, particularly in Microsoft Excel, and possess a sound understanding of financial frameworks that inform both strategic and operational decision-making. With highly developed analytical and conceptual abilities and a strong attention to detail, you will be confident engaging and communicating with stakeholders at all levels. You will have a track record of influencing financial performance in dynamic environments, proactively partnering with management to deliver on operational plans, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
