The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Financial Readiness (FR) Manager leads their Financial Readiness team while establishing best practices, streamlining departmental workflow, and promoting continuous improvement. The manager supervises and acts as a case manager for wounded Post 9/11 veterans, service members, and their families providing one-on-one assessments of their financial needs. In this capacity the manager assesses needs within services guidelines, provides connections to resources, and guidance for the warriors to make better informed decisions regarding their individual financial situation. The Financial Readiness Manager is responsible for team training programs & coaching the FR team to provide emergent financial assistance grants for warrior households in financial crisis.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in financial counseling, financial education, or personal financial management services.
  • One year of direct staff management experience.

Preferences

  • Two years of experience working with military or veteran’s population.
  • Two years of experience with Salesforce.
  • Two years of experience using planning/scheduling software.

Responsibilities
  • Manage specialists and coordinators assigned to the Financial Readiness team.
  • Oversee the financial education curriculum to support and educate wounded service members to attain financial stability.
  • Plan, organize, and administer the WWP Financial Readiness program services in collaboration with other WWP programs and external partners.
  • Liaison for training and referrals to external partners facilitating financial education partnership deliveries to include debt management, budgeting, credit counseling, seminars, etc.
  • Collect and use assessment data to improve financial education seminars and services delivery. Provide recommendations for instructional strategies to meet warrior needs.
  • Ensure defined programs goals are achieved.
  • Establish, manage, and monitor departmental procedures and best practices.
  • Address urgent departmental issues and escalated warrior requests.
  • Interview clients to conduct needs assessments, review requests, gather supporting documentation, and assess referrals for program eligibility when team needs assistance.
  • Prioritize needs and services as required to connect with other resources when necessary.
  • Communicate program services and eligibility criteria clearly, accurately, and respectfully.
  • Maintain Salesforce case activities, progress, evaluations, recommendations and develop reports and briefings as required,
  • Responsible for maintaining required documentation for financial assistance grants according to program guidelines and emergency relief grant data requirements.
  • Assist in management of departmental budget.
  • Continual effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Train, develop, and mentor Financial Readiness team.
  • Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
