Description

General Realty Group Ltd. is a privately owned commercial real estate company based in Edmonton. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Financial Reporting Manager: for our Edmonton based operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our real estate operations and related group of companies through accurate financial reporting, proactive problem-solving, and strategic support.

Key Responsibilities::

  • Responsible for hands on preparation and oversight of financial statements for multiple portfolio companies & joint ventures within a private equity/family office environment.
  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements including variance analysis and related reporting for financial and operational purposes.
  • Work with CFO and operational leaders to identify, implement and monitor KPI’s.
  • Oversee small team of accounting staff and manage day to day activities, including AP and AR.
  • Review and record complex related party and intercompany transactions, and reconciliation of related intercompany balances.
  • Work closely with external accounting firm on year end tax engagements.
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual GST reconciliations and related remittances.
  • Help develop business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Support CFO on M&A activity from time to time.
  • Additional ad hoc financial duties as necessary.

Core Competencies::

  • Strong and well-developed communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of associates in both finance and operations
  • Strong diligence and analytical skills
  • Confident, resourceful, and initiative taking, can work independently and within small teams
  • Strong accounting systems knowledge, and/or past experience with ERP implementation
  • Ability to embrace change, continually recommend process improvements and maintain confidentiality
  • Professional attitude with exceptional organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking, time management, and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience::

  • CPA required
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating and reviewing financial statements
  • Experience working within a multi-entity environment will be an asset
  • Needs to be very comfortable working with technology and software
