JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinates all aspects of resident billing, fund accounts, Medicaid and third party insurance programs. Reviews billing with Corporate Center. Develops a positive, support role with residents, families and responsible parties.
Essential Functions:
- Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
- Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
- Meets with residents, families and/or responsible parties upon or prior to admission to discuss eligibility for Medicaid, Medicare and third party insurance coverage as related to Homewood.
- Assists in maximizing appropriate reimbursement benefits.
- Meets with residents, families and/or responsible parties regarding issues and explanations of Homewood’s monthly statements, third party insurance billing, explanation of benefits and any related matters for the entire campus.
- Coordinates resident fund accounts.
- Reviews and keeps abreast of the aged accounts and is involved with the collection process of these accounts.
- Assists the residents, families and/or responsible parties with the Medical Assistance application process and corresponds with the area Department of Social Services caseworker.
- Coordinates completion of obtaining a level of care for M.A. residents and completing the necessary facility paperwork for M.A. payment.
- Performs other functions as directed by their supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and understand English well.
- Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons, their families and/or responsible parties.
- Ability to communicate helpfully with residents and others in a manner they can understand.
- Ability to provide professional counsel regarding Medicare, Medicaid and various other reimbursement programs.
- Background in business with long term care reimbursement experience preferred. Understands the importance of attention to detail in long term care reimbursement and related processes.
- Ability to supervise effectively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. This position has physical and mental aspects of sedentary work in which lifting requirements are minimal. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
