MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Good knowledge of:

  • Accounting principles and practices.

    • Typically requires at least four years of professional work experience as an accountant, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR an Associate’s degree in accounting AND at least two years of professional work experience as an accountant or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Developing and preparing financial documents.

    • Typically requires at least one year of full-time work experience.
  • Using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data.


    • Typically requires at least one year of work experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze and report on financial data as a regularly assigned job duty. (Experience tracking personal finances and using home financial software would not qualify.) Due to the rapidly changing information systems, your experience must be within the last five years.

    • Analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.


      • Typically requires at least one year of full-time work experience.

      Responsibilities
      • Audit financial data for completeness and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations;
      • Determine compliance with accounting principles and standards, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures;
      • Ensure compliance with federal and state policies, laws, and regulations;
      • Create and develop enforcement of internal controls on internal accounting and software packages;
      • Develop and prepare complex financial documents such as grant or program budgets, cost analysis, audit reports, and audit work papers;
      • Analyze the effectiveness of existing procedures and suggest improvements;
      • Perform financial and trend analysis;
      • Utilize current information technology to query, analyze, research, and maintain financial data, develop financial documents, and resolve problems;
      • Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances;
      • Locate and correct irregularities in accounting records;
      • Determine general ledger adjusting entries;
      • Manage and track cash balances for multiple funds;
      • Manage and track multiple state appropriation budget balances;
      • Oversee A/P, A/R, and deposits
      • Coordinate with the procurement services team on procedures and asset tracking;
      • Oral and written customer service with both internal and external customers;
      • Use Microsoft Excel and Word for analysis, calculations, mail merge and other advanced functions;
      • Respond to day-to-day operational questions regarding fiscal information;
      • Liaison with other agency staff and administrators
