Description

Chihuly Studio is seeking a Registrar to join our team. Chihuly Studio is the family-owned business of world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly, where the Chihuly team is committed to a collaborative and passionate culture supporting the work, creative design, and excellent client service of our inspirational and distinguished artist, Dale Chihuly.
The Registrar reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and is primarily responsible for the registration, tracking, organization, transportation coordination, and care of Chihuly Studio and the Chihuly family’s personal artwork and collections. This includes managing the CRM system; implementing policies and procedures for artwork handling, conservation, and records management; and overseeing digital asset and intellectual property administration.
This role collaborates across departments to support fine art sales and acquisitions, exhibitions, marketing and public relations, design and communications, shipping and warehousing, and production. The Registrar advises the Executive Team on best practices to aid in the long-term planning, preservation, and administration of artwork and collections.

THE STUDIO’S IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience in the arts field.
  • Familiarity with museum industry standards.
  • Experience maintaining physical and intellectual control of artwork, archives and image assets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or inventory tracking database preferred.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee copyright registration and administration for artwork and images.
  • Manage rights and reproduction activities for artwork, digital assets, and collections in collaboration with other departments.
  • Communicate with Artist Rights Society (ARS) regarding licensing requests as necessary.
  • Administer all aspects of studio and privately owned art inventory, including care and cleaning.
  • Partner with the Warehouse Manager to maintain packing, storage, and shelving protocols for artwork and collections.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales and Exhibitions teams to prepare and present artwork for viewing by collectors, galleries, independent dealers, and museums.
  • Maintain and update Vetro database.
  • Implement Vetro system updates and enhancements and coordinate testing and integration with Asset Bank.
  • Train users on Vetro; maintain training materials.
  • Reconcile Vetro inventory records with accounting records in collaboration with Finance.
  • Oversee and facilitate the safe handling, storage, and condition reporting of artwork both on-site and on loan.
  • Recommend and implement preventative conservation policies and practices; assess and prioritize conservation needs.
  • Manage relationships with external art handlers, auction houses, and appraisers.
  • Oversee Chihuly personal collections (artwork and collectibles) and serve as primary contact for outside consultants.

    Pay: $39.00 - $42.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week
